• Hezbollah role in Syrian south exposes limits of U.S. policy
Hezbollah is helping to lead a Russian-backed offensive in southern Syria, pro-Damascus sources said, exposing the limits of U.S. policy that hopes Moscow can get Iran and groups it backs out of the country.
“Hezbollah is a fundamental participant in planning and directing this battle,” a commander in the regional alliance that backs Damascus told Reuters. “Everyone knows this - the Israeli enemy, friends, and even the Russians.”
• Israel Ex-Minister Goes On Trial On Charges of Spying For Iran
A former Israeli government minister went on trial on Thursday on charges of spying for arch-foe Iran in a case which has been kept under tight wraps on security grounds.
Gonen Segev, who served as energy and infrastructure minister from 1995 to 1996, is charged with "espionage against the state of Israel, assisting the enemy in time of war and passing information with the intention of harming state security."
Journalists were excluded from the hearing, which was held behind closed doors, an AFP correspondent reported. Most of the detailed charge sheet has been redacted in its published version.
• A woman was hanged in the Central Prison of Orumieh
A woman was hanged in the Central Prison of Orumieh. The execution of this woman took place at dawn on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, along with two other male prisoners. The identity of the executed woman has not been made available, yet.
With this execution, the number of women executed during Hassan Rouhani’s presidency amounts to 83.
• “Rouhani didn’t mean closing the Strait of Hormuz,” says Iranian regime MP
June 5, 2018 - Merely two days after hollow threats made by the Iranian Regime’s President Hassan Rouhani of closing the Strait of Hormuz in response to United States oil sanctions, Heshmat Falahatpisheh, chair of the Security Commission in the regime’s parliament says Rouhani didn’t mean to actually close the strait.
On July 2nd and during his visit to Switzerland, Rouhani made interesting remarks in his meeting with a number of Iranian regime operatives, referring to positions expressed by American officials over zeroing Iran’s oil exports.
• UN panel ‘ignoring Iran-funded terror’
A TOP UN body has been accused of turning a blind eye to Iran-funded terrorism and violence in Bahrain while being critical of the kingdom’s rights record.
Members of the UN Human Rights Committee (HRC) also did not reach out to Bahrain-based civil societies to verify claims of “gaps” on the kingdom’s political and civil fronts, it was alleged.
The HRC reviewed Bahrain’s first-ever International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) report in Geneva last week.
